Just a quick catch up!

Cody graduated from fire school- he now has all his fire and haz. mat. certificates, and his basic EMT- he is planning on going on and getting his paramedic next semester. Way to go Cody! We are very proud of you! You have done AWESOME!!

Bekky and her girls have been living with her parents for the last few months. Her husband finished school in California and moved to his hometown (Camarillo, CA) to get his business setup. So to avoid a costly setup and rent and such- he stayed with friends and she came here. It was awesome having them here for a few months. But sadly the time came to go home... it was very sad to see them go. We had tons of fun with Bekky, Payton and Madison (although she likes to be called Milla). Cade went to go visit Santa! He actually smiled and loved Santa. Most kids don't until they are older- even Santa was surprised. Maybe next year we will get the crying with Santa pic...

We had some new family pictures taken. they turned out pretty good. I didn't realize how cold it was until I saw the pictures and noticed we all had red noses. I guess we will have to take some new ones this summer.

Next we have Christmas Eve! Ryan and Cody each read a favorite Christmas story. We always do a nativity reading- this year we had Todd and Rose and Cade dress up as Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. They did a very cute impression. My favorite is Todd and Daisy (you can tell he really loves her- right?)

We have to also give the "surprised at what Santa brought" picture- it a favorite tradition, along with all the matching pajama pants.

As many of you probably know by now- Todd and Rose WERE expecting. On June 4th- Cade Robert Whatcott was born! He has been the best baby (as far as I know- he never cries at my house!) I will post a few pictures in order...since some are newer! It has been a crazy month so sorry for this being a bit late in getting blogged! Congratulations TODD AND ROSE!

Just a few funny things that happened during April. First is Daisy...

Tahsha had made a cute tu-tu, not exactly for Daisy, but she got to wear it anyway! Of course she is not happy about it, but...

It was way funnier to see it around her head like a lion mane! I always wondered what she would look like as a lion!

Next we found her a new friend...

Talia's goat Dolly had a baby- this is Woodrow. He was so cute and little! He was fine with being a friend to Daisy...but if you know Daisy- you can tell how she felt about it! So funny!

We have a NEW Whatcott to welcome! Hurray! Justin (Jay's brother) and Ashlee had their baby - Sunday February 28th. They had an adorable baby girl... Addison Ann. She was 7 lbs. 4 ozs. and 21 inches. She is about as cute as can be!!

Cruising in the Caribbean!

Jay and I had a really awesome opportunity to go on a cruise with some of my family and my parents. We had a fun time and spent 12 days doing new and exciting things. We went on a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean. We went a few days early and stayed a few days after.

Day 1- flew into Miami late- nothing too exciting

Day 2- drove down to Key West- spent time walking around, there is tons of sight seeing there. We even found ELVIS!!

Day 3- Still in Key West, rented scooters, formed a "scooter gang" and also went to the beach. We also went to Mallory Square for the famous sunset.

Day 4- Drove back to Miami- went past the SuperBowl- boarded the "Liberty of the Seas".

Day 5- cruised all day- headed for Mexico. Hung out at the "Flo-rider" and the pool.

Day 6- Went to Costa Maya, Mexico- went to the ruins and the beach

Day 7- Went to Belize- river-tubed through some caves and hiked through the rainforest.

Day 8- Went to Cozumel- Mom and Angie swam with the dolphins- we shopped like crazy!

Day 9- Went to Grand Caymen- we went to "Stingray City"- swam there and also got to snorkel on a reef . Yes we had to shop there too. This was a blast!

Day 10- Cruised all day- headed back to Miami

Day 11- Hit Miami- got off the boat- went to our hotel, dinner, etc.

Day 12- Drove out to Miami Beach- we drove around looking for Horacio and anyone from CSI- but never found anyone.

Got back to the airport by 4 and home by midnight. WOW! That was the most condensed version of 288 hours. IT WAS AWESOME! I hope we don't have to wait another 10 years before we go do something this awesome again!

Last post of the year! I made it! I finally kept a New Year's resolution. A post for each week of the year. It was actually alot harder than I thought it would be and there was times I went for awhile without blogging, but I ended up getting something in for each week! YEAH!

So for New Year's, Ryan had a friend party- 10 14 year olds! It was fun and the kids were all pretty good.

It looks like me and Daisy just woke up but we all watched movies and at 12 o'clock we did a bunch of fireworks and Jay shot off his muzzleloader (good excuse to empty it- right?)

Even Daisy got a party hat- thanks to my niece Abby!

We had lots of good treats and toasted in the new year with Martinelli's, our favorite!

Christmas week!
Bekky and her family came in from California- it's always great when they come to visit.

Liz had a birthday- Happy Birthday LIZ!

Christmas finally came---Got some good pictures of it!

Surprise! Santa came to visit on Christmas Eve!

Daisy got her Christmas outfit- and of course...

so did Zoey and Gus- they all were ready to go "shreddin"

We have a tradition to let the youngest to oldest go in to see what Santa brought. The kids always do their best "surprised" look!

I think they all liked what he left for them.

After that we always go to Grandma Whatcott's for Christmas breakfast.

It was, as always, DELICIOUS!

We enjoy each other- can't you tell!

We had a great Christmas with Marsha and LaGrand

Todd got the FAMOUS yard-o-beef!

It is a weird tradition and a joke to get it given to you, then you have to pass it on to the next person when you don't think they will expect it. We figure this yard-o-beef to be over 10 years old. GROSS- but funny!

We made it down to Ann and Deans and only got one picture before my camera battery went out. But all in all it was an awesome Christmas!

Almost Christmas! School is out and it is officially Christmas break. Got to get ready for Santa to come- MORE SHOPPING!!

This week we went around to see Christmas lights. We try to go at least a few times each year. It helps to bring that Christmas feeling around.

Cody put the lights up on our house. He did a great job. Jay and Ryan remodeled Todd's old room and made it into a nice "camo" room for Ryan. It is much bigger than his old room. I moved my office into Ryan's old room and Jay moved his office upstairs into my old office. Lots of moving and cleaning- but all in all- it was a great move and we got lots of stuff cleaned out and thrown away (for some weird reason- that makes me happy!) Anyway I painted Ryan's old room a really light olive green color, made new curtains and window seat cover, hung up some of my favorite quilts on the wall... and I have an awesome new office. I have tons of room for all my crafty stuff too. Jay's office is more room for him too and he has lots of storage that he really needed. I guess Cody's room is the next one to clean...where's Talia? She did it last time and did an excellent job!

Card class at Janae's house- we did Christmas to/from tags. There was some really cute ideas.

Todd and Rose got some great tickets to the JAZZ game. FRONT ROW...ON THE FLOOR!!!

But alas...(sounds dramatic!) Jay got sick and we couldn't go, (So sad).

Cody and Ryan where only too happy to fill in for us!

Ryan sat by the JAZZ bear for most of the game.

They got dinner and prizes and the whole package!!!

They were on TV and everything!

November 24th- December 1st

Thanksgiving---food, family, friends, THANKFULNESS! So much to be thankful for!
Also December 1st is the day I became a mother- 24 years ago! If I had only known how fast time would go by-although at the time it seems to go slow some days...looking back it really did go fast! Todd, Cody and Ryan are wonderful kids. Todd's birthday was fun- he had a little get together at his new house. He and Rose finally got into their house and remodeled it really cute. There are still a few things to do- but for the most part, it's done and amazing. If you know them and read Rose's blog- you know they found out they are expecting! We are so excited and can't wait for them to get to experience all the joys of parenthood. One day 24 years down the road they will be blogging about their kids and their experiences. I can't wait!

I did it again... 4 weeks without a post. Why, oh why can't I learn? It is hard to remember yesterday- let alone 4 weeks ago. Thank heavens for my calendar and my phone calendar :)
So nothings on my calendar for this week... guess I didn't do anything but a flu clinic. That wasn't fun- and probably no one would care much about that. So maybe I'll share a new favorite recipe or something....

I got some of my quilts back from Amy- she quilts them and ALWAYS does an amazing job! It made me want to show off some of my other quilts she has quilted too. So here are a few of the latest "fallish" ones.

I am working on some winter/christmas ones right now- I will post some cute pictures after I get them finished. Here are a few of the blocks I have done from my civil war fabric class.

We also have been helping Todd and Rosie remodel a house they bought. Todd took some great "before" pictures and we will soon be able to do the "after" pictures. That will be a fun post!

Sadly Ryan had his LAST football game- it was equivalent to state playoffs in high school. They had won so many times- that they won their region- but they lost the LAST game! So SAD! They played American Fork, which had won all of their games.

Halloween was probably the funnest things that happened this week. I got some great pictures of Cody and Talia. They looked great as Quigley Down Under with Crazy Cora. Ryan was a "nerd" and Jay and I didn't even try to dress up- haha!

Had my card class- Meggie did it at her house again- and it was great AGAIN!

Robyn got the cutest new puppy- he is bigger than Daisy and he is only 8 weeks old- he is so stinkin' cute!

Second card party... Did "holidays" as the theme. I know you can always use another holiday card, right? I love these parties- it's fun to get together- gab, eat, create- what COULD be MORE fun?

This is our last card party with this group until after January...so sad...

Ryan's team played Lehi, on Lehi's field- well sad to say- they lost. Their first loss of the season. It was hard to take, but hopefully it will get them geared up for the playoffs and get them thinking about working for a WIN!

Once again--Ryan's team won! 44-5 they have really been doing great! It is so fun to go watch his games, they played against Timpanogos this week. Way to go Ryan!

My civil war fabric quilting class was this week- it is interesting, we usually go over a few stories from the civil war era, make a quilt block from this time with the fabric reproduced to look like the ones made then too. Each quilt block pattern has a name and a story to it. It has been really interesting so far.

Another card class- Rosie threw this one together and it was really cute, plus lots of really good snacks!

Ryan's team won again this week 57-0 - they are really getting hot!
I hope they do this great all season!

Did a card class- it was a lot of fun and got some really cool cards.

Went to the 30's fabric quilting class- this class is mostly just listening and looking at fun techniques from the 30's how they did things compared to how we do them now. Lots of the class brings things that were made in the 30's to show and tell. Of course we get treats at the end of each class too!!

August 11th- 18th card party #2/scout camp

For the card party #2- we did kids birthdays. I think everyone had cupcakes on their minds! I bet if you know me at all you can pick my card... yep! it is the dog card! They were all sooo cute. We have some really talented people in our group!

Ryan and Jay had scout camp- it was all week. They went on Monday morning at 6am and hiked 10 miles that day, 10 miles on Tuesday, and 10 miles on Wednesday. Thursday they got to just explore and fish and have more of a fun resting day, because on Friday they hiked 20 miles. They actually hiked 21 miles- but they all earned their 50 miler merit badge.

There were a few of us moms that got to be on the "Support team"- we took them water and treats and lunch at different points along the hike. It was fun to see them having a good time.

Jay has really enjoyed being in scouts again! Ryan has some great friends in his troop and Jay does too.

He did pretty good for having his "little knee surgery" just a few months ago.

Our family loves to camp- in fact we took the trailer up to the Currant Creek area and camped in it while they did the scout camp and had so much fun- we are going back for more this weekend. Dutch oven cooking, campfires, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling- it's all great fun!

August 4-11th card party #1/ quilting weekend/ Ruger's getting huge!

For August at the card party #1- we did sympathy cards.

There was a lot of good ideas.

My sisters, Deanna and Amy and I went to a quilting weekend. We quilted pretty much non-stop for 2 1/2 days. It was held in Pocatello, Idaho- It was a good time to get a lot of sewing done. It was held in the back room of a fabric store, the room was huge and had been setup to make it very convenient to sew, iron, cut- all the fun parts of piecing a quilt top. If you happened to NEED any extra fabric, thread, etc- you could just pop up to the front of the store and add it to your tab (it was way too easy to add about $100 to my tab!) We had fun staying in a really,really, really scary motel there. The lady that owned the fabric store told us there was meth busts there regularly (EWWW!) but there were no other rooms available- band camps, national guard something, etc. So we dealt with it and tried to laugh! And laugh we did! I have one more quilt I will post when I finish piecing it.

Here is my favorite "brown dog"- he does answer to that now! He is getting so big- I take him with me for runs on the canal- and he does pretty good. Sometimes he takes me for runs, but that does help me!

July 28th- August 4th making jam/ Snowbird condos

Well this week I made jam. ALOT of jam. Every kind of jam. Did you know there is watermelon jam? I didn't until I had a ton of watermelon and nothing to do with it but eat it. It turned out really good- way better than I expected. So maybe for Christmas- if you are really, really good- you night get some homemade jam...If I remember that I made it!

We went a spent a few nights at Snowbird in a Condo- it was a lot of fun. We got to swim, ride the ziplines,

ride the downhill sleds,

climb the rock walls,

ride the tram,

and the skilifts.

We went to the top and went through the new tunnel to the American Fork Canyon side, you can see Mineral Basin- it is so beautiful, it really is awesome!

We had little ground squirrels everywhere.

There also was tons of great food and fun! We even got Cody to do a "Keep on truckin' " pose-

All the kids went with us-

we all got pretty tired from a long day. We got totally sunburned- it never felt hot!

July 21st-28th Rachel's wedding

Our niece, Rachel got married this week. She and her new husband Fil got married in the SLC Temple. It was really a beautiful ceremony. We took some great pics with the kids.

After the ceremony at the Temple, she had her reception at our wedding reception venue, Hawley Garden Weddings. It always amazes me how much the place changes when we get it all ready for a reception- especially at night! I love the lights there- it turns into a magical place!

My kids love to get my camera and take silly pictures!

This is a great one of all of us!

July 14-21st card party #2/ Ryan's baseball state finals/meeting up with old friends!

First I will start with the 2nd card party-we chose to let everyone do any card they wanted. We ended up with some really cute cards!

Ryan played in the state finals with his baseball team.
They played all week and ended up taking 4th after losing in a double header.

It was a really close game- a little heartbreaking after they had tried so hard and put so much into those last two games. They really did great anyway! I think they all had fun but were SSOOOOO tired by the end.

Jay and I got to meet up with some old friends this week. I think during the summer old friends come back to visit their families. We got to visit with an an old friend from high school- Sarah (Cobabe)Thomas- this was awesome, we hadn't seen her in quite a while (25 years)!

We got to visit with another on e of Jay's friends- he worked with him after school and right after we got married way back in the olden days- too bad I wasn't thinking- I should have got a picture. Next time I will be thinking better. I also got to have lunch with another friend from high school, Debbie (Tate) Tehrani. She has brought her kids to Utah to go to BYU to EFY. Last summer she did this also, it was the first time I had seen her in years. I think it had been since she stood in my wedding line as a bridesmaid. Funny but sad how people lose touch- I'm so glad we have made a few reconnections!

July 7-14th Ryan's city baseball tournament/card party #1

They will play in the State tournament the 2nd week of July.

My first card party for July was a lot of fun- we did the theme for weddings.

June 30th- July 7th 4th of July celebration!

We had a little BBQ for the 4th of July and for Cindy's birthday- it is on the 5th and she came in from Phoenix to take her daughter to EFY. They had a lot of fun roasting hotdogs, making smore's and playing games. We also had Jessi and Cody, Rachel and Fil, Todd and Rose, Cody and Talia, Cindy and Amanda and Amanda's friend, Jay and I and Ryan, and Marsha and LaGrand. Ashlee came over later for some of the fireworks!

Then the fun started! We had a TON of fireworks and I think everyone had a turn lighting some if they wanted. Although it seemed like Todd and Ryan did the most. I think they got a little bored because soon it turned into a contest to see who could jump OVER the fountains as they were going! I think Jay started that-- they all came away with burnt leg hair, but no serious injuries. It was quite a show!

June 24th- 30th 24 YEARS!

This week was our 24th wedding anniversary. Jay always remembers and gets me something very sweet. It doesn't seem that long ago that two kids got married. I had to find a picture to prove how long ago it really was. Have fun laughing! (remember it was the eighties!)

June 17th- 24th Ryan's Birthday/Strawberry Days/Ruger

Ryan turned 14 this year. He is getting so grown up- which in turn means I'm getting older too! It is worth it though- he is an awesome son. He has really been such a joy to watch grow- he has an awesome sense of humor, quick wit, and very intelligent. He has a real way with people- very kind-hearted and insightful. Thanks Ryan for being such a great son! We love you! Strawberry days was this last week- we went to the carnival with Deanna and Gary- Ryan rode the rides with My nephew Tyler (thanks Tyler for riding the rides- made it nice for me to not have to) Bekky and all their kids. It was really fun. We also went to the rodeo and that was pretty good too. The last day- Saturday, was the parade. It rained off and on throughout the whole parade. It was still pretty fun to watch. Then after the parade it was off to the Whatcott Family Reunion- in Kanosh... oh what fun! One more thing look how BIG Ruger has grown!

June 10th-17th- Card party #2/Bekky visits/Deanna's Birthday

The 2nd card party was at Deanna's this month. Her cards were cute and the treats were delicious. Her daughter, Bekky and her two cute girls came out from California to visit Deanna and Gary. They usually get out to visit 1-2 times a year. She came this year at a great time, her mom's b-day and Strawberry Days. So here comes great pics of the cards, the visit and the b-day! Oh- I almost forgot- we have to put up pictures of the cute little unicorns! I try to take the girls to build a bear when they come out and get them a new friend- so... one with the girls and "Beautiful" and "Isabella"! (AND grandpa wearing a fun hat)

June 3rd-10th- Lake Powell!

We always look forward to going to Lake Powell each summer. It is a great time to spend with the kids and their friends and ours family. This year All our family went- plus Justin and Ashlee and Ryan's friend- Kolby. We really had a fun time. The weather was warm, but cloudy- so it was nice not to get so hot that it wasn't fun. There was a lot of wind though- that cut into staying out, just because it made it slightly cold at times. The water was warm after you got in and got used to it. All in all it was a really good trip!

This week was crazy. Lots of friends graduated- of course Ryan loves the last week, class parties, the end of school dance, just getting out of school and going with friends. Cody got to spend some time in Jackson Hole , Wyoming. He went with Talia and her family to watch her perform at Jackson's city celebrations. She plays lots of instruments- but she plays fiddle for the Charley Jenkins band and he goes with them a lot. She is awesome on her violin!

May 13-20 --2nd card party for May / Ryan wins/ Jay's surgery/ Gus Bin Laden(wow- that's alot!)

This card party's theme was birthday/ Father's Day/ congratulations!

It was also a great get together and Robyn had delicious treats!

Ryan also won third place in the "hit, pitch and run". There was about 100 kids that played, so he did really well! Way to go RYAN!

Jay had his left knee scoped- it had a torn meniscus. It was a same-day procedure, and Jay was up and around within a few days.

Here is Gus- right after his bath. Todd sent it to me. I have to say- Gus is the cutest "Bin Laden" I have ever seen.

Cody got a really cute present from his sweet little girlfriend- Talia. She gave him an awesome little puppy, soon to be a big ol' dog!

This card party's theme was Father's Day or Graduation. There was some really good cards. The very best thing was the treats-there was a white corn and black bean salsa to die for. The kids have this "trick" they play with Daisy. They pretend they are going to steal her Dingo's and she growls at them. Most of the time, I think they both know its pretend. Sometimes- Daisy puts her whole heart into it and looks and sounds scary!! I think she has them fooled because when she gets like that...they won't get close to her Dingos for a while- she has a long memory.

I hope I don't write about Daisy to much- she is the only one that can't complain when I take her picture and blog about her. We have neighbor dogs that are ALOT bigger than she is, but she thinks she is a big dog like them. She loves to charge out the door and heads directly over to the fence and barks as "big" as the other dogs. I think they are really friends- the neighbors have had alot of different dogs there- some are theirs, and some are their son's. the have a new puppy which is already bigger than Daisy. The puppy could get under the fence and come over to see Daisy- and they actually played. I guess the puppy is getting too big to get under the fence very easily, but still tries. I took their picture today right after their barking "greeting". She loves being outside soaking in the sunshine with her friends! Me too!

April 8-15 Turkey hunt! FUN?

Ok- Jay and Justin drew tags for the turkey hunt this year. They haven't done this hunt before but thought it would be fun. They got to buy new calls, decoys, etc. for this hunt and practice the calls and the scratching and all the noises you would ever imagine turkeys making! We all took our trailers and went camping. We went to Kanosh- they have family and friends there so it was fun to visit them too. Well the weather really didn't co-operate very well- it rained, snowed, hailed, blowed, etc. Only the last day there was sun, so we got to actually sit outside for awhile- that was nice. I did get all my cards done for next month :) Justin got a turkey the first morning! I think the guys thought it would be just that easy. So of course we couldn't be DONE that fast. Jay waited clear to the end, which was the following weekend and went done again with all the guys (yeah, I stayed home this time) and continued to be cautious to the end on getting the best turkey. Well- needless to say- he came home late Sunday night without a turkey. He wasn't sad about it at all- he had the best time camping and hunting and spending time "on the mountain" which is very therapeutic, right? So all is well! They were happy with the turkey the got, learned alot, and had a great time.

This week I had two different card parties. I was in charge of one of them and it was alot of fun. The theme for the first one was Father's Day/ Mother's Day. The second party's theme was Mother's Day/Easter. My good friend Sarah had it at her house and it was delightful as well! I have noticed how crafty alot of my family and friends are- it is always fun to see what they come up with for their card. So here is a picture of both (this is for you- Missy--thanks for requesting it! haha:) Also this week was Jay's birthday- I don't know how he got away without getting a picture taken of him- but he did. I will get him soon!

Short and sweet! I think there was only 1 sunny day in the past week. It actually was blizzard-like on 2 days--isn't it supossed to be sunny and warm-ish by the end of March? We took Daisy to the groomers to get her nails cut-she had CLAWS! She came back with the cutest bow on her head. I never thought she could have a bow- too short of hair, so I asked them how they did that and she said GLUE! Well- that's awesome a bow glued on her head! I think they did that to me until I was 2..ha ha

I have been walking down by the lake every week or so- my sister and I like to mix up our exercise with new sites and sounds, you would be surprised at all the crazy things you find down there. We found a little pond area that had the LOUDEST frogs I have ever heard. It was really cool-once they noticed us watching them- they quit, but by the time we came back past them - they were going loud as ever.

There are 2 geese down there that seem to want to chase us each time we are around too- I hope they moved by the next time we go. I took their picture from a safe distance!

Green smoothies-long lost pictures-more cards!
This week my Dad was supossed to start his next round of chemo- but his WBC's were too low. I have been on a little health/raw food kick and have been making fruit/vege smoothies. They are actually not bad- at least the green one isn't too bad. I made some for my dad to try and he said they were pretty good. They should help with his blood count and that along with a vit. B shot every few days- hopefully his count will be up enough next week to be able to continue with his chemo.

My cousin posted some great old pictures on Facebook- there were some really old one of my dad and his family when he was just little- soo cute!

Also we had our March card party and there were some really cute cards. I can't wait to see next months (Easter/Birthday) I'm sure everyone will come up with some that are soo fun!

Jay is still working hard with Cody- doing 2-3 jobs-lots of work! No new pictures of that yet- you will have to wait for the finished pictures. Ryan went snowboarding last Monday- he went with a bunch of his friends- they have such a good time! I hope everyone is getting better- it seems like everyone I have talked to this week has had some form of cold/cough- drink a green smoothie!!

We had a good week- lots of work and fun. Jay & Cody are getting on the "Done" side of this project. We will post more when it is completely finished :)

Ryan had parent-teacher at school---which means he will be finishing all his work before the end of the term. He has been snowboarding probably a little too much- but at least he's having fun! I had another card party- with another one next week- I am starting to have ALOT of cards! They are fun to have-and to look at!

This week has been busy! We all have had a hundred projects- and hardly any spare time. Jay has been busy with juggling jobs- ending one and starting 2 new ones. I have to thank Heavenly Father for keeping us in work- I know alot of construction people don't have any. Cody has been home about a month and has been working with Jay every day- he has been a lifesaver to Jay and has learned alot. Ryan has been busy with school , scouts, and of course friends! I have been trying to stay busy too! I have tons of "projects" going. I have 12 quilts at Amy's ready to be quilted, two sets of cards for the card parties, making dog jackets for Daisy and her friends, and my newest is "scrapbag" purses. I think that should do it for a while... until I get bored with that and go to my next "thing". I wonder if I have adult ADD? hhuuummm... Oh yeah- Jim and Angie asked me to help them redecorate their living room, kitchen and bedroom! That will be fun! Sorry- I don't have any new pictures- but I promise to for next week. These posts are alot more fun when there are pictures involved!

What a fun week! Valentine's day has always been a fun day to me. I remember all the school parties, decorating your valentine box for the class party, making cookies and writing out all the cards to give to family and friends! Life was much simpler back then, maybe that is the best part of the nostalgic feeling from being a kid. I started a new thing- "a card party". I have been going to one with my friend for about 3 months. Once a month we all get together and make a card, but you also take a card that you have made for each person there. We pick a theme and all make cards then make one there and usually get a fun little treat. It is a great time to just relax and gab with friends. So I started one with my family. We had 12 people- next month we had 3 more sign up so we will have 15. It really was alot of fun. So going back to my original thought...I made my card with that nostalgic feeling. Old-fashioned with Cupid's and all. Everyone has such a different thought of what Valentine's day is to them. All the cards were really wonderful!

Having the card party inspired me to be a little creative. My niece Bekky always makes the cutest cupcakes-they always have a delightful surprise filling. My first attempt at "decorated like Bekky's" cupcakes and some DELICIOUS macaroons- were my project for Valentine's day. They ended up very tasty. Strawberry cake with strawberry-cheesecake filling and strawberry whip cream frosting. I really want to come up with something delicious for St. Patrick's Day- any suggestions?

This week went so fast-it seems like I'm always saying that. I have pictures of Daisy and Oscar's trip to Home Depot. Yes- they go to Home Depot on a fairly regular basis. Although it is not with me- they love who takes them...it's Gary. He and Deanna have Oscar (which is Daisy's brother) he takes them to keep them from getting to bored from staying home alone, and with it being winter- they can't get out to run very often. So Here are a few of this last trip!

They have a blanket in the bottom so their feet don't fall through, they even have the guys that work there happy to see them. Alot of people stop to pay attention to them- they love that! Oscar is the one with his collar on, Daisy forgot to put her's back on after her bath!

I can't believe that I have missed a week already- so much for New Year's resolutions! So thinking back that far--yes- one week is probably too far back to remember much- but Looking on my camera I found the Superbowl pictures! So I guess that can be the subject of this weeks post. We have a superbowl party at our house every year. Depending on who is playing and who is doing the half-time show- decides on how crazy the decorations get. Sometimes it is way over the line. This year we definitely had to have the support showing for the Arizona Cardinals. Too bad they lost- we had lots of fun and way too much food! It was extra fun this year- Deanna and Gary came to watch the first half with us. We had Todd and Rose and Gus, and Justin and Ashlee and Zoey, and LaGrand and Marsha. We also have Cody back which makes me way HAPPY! I missed him so much! So here is a picture of some of our CRAZINESS!!!

By the way- I do know these are really stupid looking decorations- but I do that on purpose to get everyone laughing and in a great mood for the games- lots of good food works too!

Wow- slow week! We haven't done much... well we are helping remodel my parents house. They were on a trip to Hawaii (2 weeks-ya they are spoiled!) They updated alot of stuff- such as their furnace and plumbing... well it made quite the mess, so we cleaned for 2 days to help the shock of the torn up house not make my Mom faint. Well they made it home- stayed 2 days and left again for Disney world and a cruise! (ya- I told you-SPOILED!) So cleaning there- a little more snow-work, work, work-yep, kind of boring. The one fun thing is we have my brothers girls for a few days- they are so fun! They keep me laughing and they are so polite- we love them! They could stay here anytime! They brought their dogs over for a while the other night and we got to play dress up with all of Daisy's outfits- Moki (boy dog) and Roxi (girl dog) both got dressed in every outfit many times and I think they were glad to get to go home! I will have to find the picture we took and post it soon too! HILARIOUS!

This week went pretty fast! I spent 4 funfilled days in California with my sister visiting her daughter and husband and their 2 sweet girls. We were treated wonderfully. Bekky took us to all the fun sites of San Francisco and the area around there. We also had alot of rest and relaxation just hanging out and playing with the girls. The weather was awesome. In fact Bekky's daughter- Madison- had her 4th b-day while we were there, so they had a party OUTSIDE at the park. People were BBQ'ing- this is not normal for January, right? It was like 68 degrees- and so nice! We also had a day off of school and work on Monday- that was a good break too. It really made the rest of the week fly by-which is always nice. I wish we had a little of that California sunshine for warmth here!

This week we had tons of snow! I think it got turned on and someone forgot to turn it off. Ryan started a new semester with a few new classes at school. Jay is very busy with a fun remodel. I am busy with work. Cody is doing great. He has a good set of investigators they are working with. He says its is even colder there and even asked for a good warm blanket. He also said he lives in the thermals I sent a few weeks ago-it's too cold to go without them :( Hopefully the suns will come back soon for us all. I think while all the snow is here- we should take advantage of it and go sledding and skiing or tubing- something fun!

This weekend we went to a reception for our Niece. Jessi and Cody ( a different Cody) got married in St. Louis December 27th and had a reception there. Then they went on their honeymoon and because they both go to BYU, they had a reception here too. It was alot of fun. We had a few family pictures with the bride and groom and a few of just our family. We did a tribute picture to our Cody with some of his famous poses.

New Project for 2009

If you follow the digital scrapbook world at all, there is a new project everyone is going to do this year called "Project 365". It is taking one picture a day and at the end of the week scrapbook the week on one page and write about each picture- it is a cool way to journal your year. Well I know that there is NO WAY that I could actually keep up with that goal and take that many pictures and write that many times. So I think my--"Project 52" might (did you see the "might") actually work. I will take one picture a week and blog about it- after all my life is BORING! I don't do enough thing to do a daily picture. My niece Bekky has told me that Blogger or some company will take all your blogs and make a book from them for a price. That sounds interesting to me- so that hopefully will be the end result. So I guess I will start with week one soon. I printed off a calendar to sit here on my desk that I can mark off the weeks as I do them. I hope this ends up being fun- isn't blogging and scrapbooking supposed to be fun?!

It is finally "OFFICIAL" Christmas time!

It is a funny thing- Christmas time- everyone has a different idea of when it starts. My husband starts the day after Halloween. The radio came on at 6:30AM as his alarm and it was playing ...Christmas music! He rolled over with a big smile and started laughing. He loves Christmas and anything to do with Christmas. Needless to say- we listened to Christmas music all day. I on the other hand like to wait until at least Thanksgiving is over. I feel like every holiday need its own time. So December first is my favorite day to start Christmas.

It is also my oldest son's Birthday. Todd started our Christmas season 23 years ago- he started it off with a lot of crying - but "new baby" crying is kind of like music- until you have heard it a lot and at 2, 4, 6, in the morning then- not so much! We were really lucky though, he wasn't really a cryer- because he was spoiled and got picked up at the slightest whimper. You do that with your first child- spoil them. If you ask him- he doesn't think he is spoiled at all. He would probably tell you his brothers are the spoiled ones- which they are too! He was a great baby with the sweetest disposition. He loved everything and was always smiling. He was a fun toddler too. Very question oriented- but he had the sweetest little lisp- it made every conversation with him so fun. He grew out of that fairly fast- and started talking like an adult. He was super smart from day 1. He would have really good conversations and tell detailed stories to me, and knew what everything was.

He was a great older brother for Cody and Ryan too. He was very mature for his age- he would tend Cody a lot and really took good care of him.

He loved school and his friends. He loved to be outside and playing. He always had pets and bikes or toys outside and kept busy building things. He has turned into a very awesome young man and has done so many great things already- I can't wait to see what he does next. Todd have a great birthday today! We love you and hope you are blessed - and as Napoleon's friend Pedro said, " may all of your wildest dreams come true!"

Being thankful! Part 4

Well it is getting close to thanksgiving, so I thought I better get a few more things in if I can. I am thankful today for many things, but I will pick a few really good ones! Friends, modern inventions, and really good food! Weird combination right? Well first- friends make every situation better. If you have your friends behind you- you can get through anything. I am lucky to have great friends. To be honest- most of my really great friends are actually my sisters. Who knew that those little mean , bratty sisters would actually grow up to be wonderful human beings! They also have great friends- that because we hang out together so much- have become my friends too! So that always help to double the friends numbers. To my bestest friends- LOVE YOU! Number 2... modern inventions- well really I was thinking of a few things- cars, medicine, MODERN hospitals and equipment for them, cell phone (I love you phone!), e-mail ( I love you computer!), and many more. That list could take all night. I really had to say I love those things- because Jay says I spend enough time using them to be in love with them. Number 3- good FOOD- to be honest- food is good, but desserts are GREAT! So Good desserts: Tiramisu, pie, cupcakes, ice cream, cheesecake, donuts, well you get the idea. I guess back in the "olden days" desserts were not that popular or that great, so good thing they are now!

I went to my benefits fair at work today. I have to say I am thankful for my job. After all- what can you have without money. Which leads to being thankful for my Dad who always enforced how important an education is. Thanks Dad for making me go to college! I have tried to instill in my own children how important an education is, if you want to get anywhere in the world. I can see from many people that an education that helps me get a job which pays a nice salary and give me great benefits- makes my life and the lives of my family just a little easier. The world is a scary place these days with the stock market, the price of gas (finally going down a little!), the cost of food and any and every service rising every day. So for part 3 I am thankful for:

a college education,

a good job with good benefits,

and a wonderful educated Father that knew what would be good for me- even if I didn't really think it was necessary at the time!

First off- I am NOT putting any of these things I am thankful for in order of importance to me. I write like I talk- whatever pops into my head ( I know that is dangerous, huh!) So sometimes something seems important enough to write about- I just go with it. So part 2- hum... I am very thankful for my family. Every part of it. My parents, my sisters and brothers, all their spouses and children, my in-laws, their spouses and children... and as my sis-in-law Cindy says- even the outlaws! I think that is what I am considered... But of course my own little family is my biggest enjoyment! Jay, Todd, Rosie, Cody and Ryan (and even Daisy) are my most thankful things for part 2. I love you all! Now I guess I should post a picture of you all- well I don't have one that is recent enough for anyone to recognize each other... so here is a good one to ponder!

I have a good friend that had a wonderful idea- she blogs each day about something she is thankful for- for each day of November. Of course- me- I couldn't do that much. I think if I get a few thankful blogs in- that will be a miracle to behold! So to start it off- I got an e-mail from my son Cody today. It is the first one since he left for his mission to Omaha. He told me where he is living, what some of the things he does each day, a little about things like his companion, his ward, his investigators. He sounds very happy and upbeat- I am so glad! I only hope he sends some pictures soon! So for my first thankful blog-

Ryans 8th grade football team.

Ryan had a great time playing football this year. They finished up their season the 3rd week of October. They had a great season and he seemed to really enjoy the awesome coaches this year. They ended up playing alot of their games in Salt Lake at Juan Diego. They played a few games around here. He has some great friends that played on his team with him. Great season Ryan!! You did great!

Well it has been a long time coming. I have known it had to happen and it has sat in the back of my mind sitting on a slow burn. It started a few years ago when Cody received an awesome blessing that stated how much he would LOVE his mission. Well right then I knew it was going to happen. In August Cody turned all his paperwork in and got his call- to Omaha Nebraska! I put it closer to the front- but didn't want to acknowledge it YET! About 2 weeks ago it started to turn up the heat and today it blew up! My proudest/saddest mommy moment has happened.
It started with dinner last night,

breakfast this morning-

then it was dragging all that you can pack into 2 suitcases (plus a carry-on)- hopefully all you will need for the next 2 years-

Then taking enough pictures to make everyone cry-

Then having your bawlbaby mother pin your new nametag on you-

Then it was goodbye to Cody!

He has made us so happy (sad-only because we will miss him so much)

We decided the other day we needed to get a new family picture.

We haven't had one since Todd left on his mission in 2004.

We have had Rosalie join our family since then,

and Cody is leaving for his mission in a few days.

We thought it would be fun to try to get some of the fall leaves as a background. My parents have a fence covered in ivy and when they change color it is always really beautiful. So off we went- we found the colors had been altered slightly by the snow last weekend- but were still pretty. We also never realized that sitting by the road, how many people would slow down or yell as they went past a bunch of people sitting there trying to take a picture! So I will post a few to see what you think-we had barely enough time to get a few before it got too dark, so some are a touch fuzzy.We got a few others that turned out pretty good.

We had some fun ones- We had my mom and dad join in our favorite "Uncle Rico" pose!

Daisy

Daisy is our almost three year old daschund-chichuahua. We got her while Todd was on his mission. She has been a very funny little dog to watch grow up. She really has a interesting personality. She loves "her" food. Which is actually anyones and everyones. If any of the other dogs come over while she has food out- she hides it in her bed and sits on it.

"Dingo's" are her favorite. You can ask Cody and Ryan- don't try to grab them from her while she is eating one! She came to us with the name "Tubby", and she really does LIKE her food!

As you can see from her pictures, we like to dress her up. She freezes in whatever pose she is in until we take off whatever she has on.

The only thing she really likes is her pink jacket.
She does love to have her friends over- Luckily almost everyone has a dog! Jim & Angie have her grandpa- "Moki" and their newest "Roxi". Robyn has "Chloe", Deanna has her brother "Oscar", Ashlee and Justin have "Zoey", Todd and Rosie have "Gus"- she loves to roughhouse with him the most! She always keeps us laughing!

Alaska 2008

We all went to Alaska this summer. We went the first week of August. We got to stay 10 wonderful days. The weather turned warm and quit raining just for us. We got to do alot of fishing, crabing, shrimping, beachcombing, whalewatching, shopping, boating, and sightseeing! It is always so packed with fun things to do- it goes by very fast. We even spent a day in Ketchikan. Probably the coolest thing was getting to actually be IN the river with the salmon while they were doing their last run UP the hillside- it was so cool! Jay and I had a great time with LaGrand and Marsha, Todd and Rosie, and Cody and Ryan and my parents- Dean and Ann. We always look forward to that time of the year!

Well as you may or may not know- Cody is going on a mission. He is going to the Omaha, Nebraska Mission and is leaving Wednesday Oct. 22nd. After the whole experience of Todd's mission- I do feel a little better about the whole being gone for 2 years thing. ( I know they do come back-better! - right?)I have a really hard time when my kids leave me for that long. I am thrilled that they both made the decision to go on their own- but as a mom- It is hard to let them go. So hopefully all my REAL friends and family will understand that the next few weeks I may cry for no reason- tell me a joke! I think Cody is also a little concerned, but he is a lot tougher then me, he isn't showing it. We are definitely going to miss him around here. I will try to keep you all updated on Cody and his progress.
